Leave it to the experts
For QMW, the safety of your personnel is the number one priority, which is why its world-class management team puts the protective structures it designs to the test, ensuring that international safety standards are met.
What sets QMW’s testing facility apart from its competitors is its in-depth experience and knowledge of safety, as well as extensive experience held by one expert on the management team, company managing director Jeff Samuels.
With more than 28-years-experience in the industry, Mr Samuels is not only involved on a local level when it come to the safety of mine machinery with Standards Australia, he is also the Australian representative on the relevant International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) committee.
Mr Samuels has been actively involved with Standards Australia since 1994. “So, I have a very intimate knowledge as to how and why different standards were developed,” he added.
“I not only have knowledge of being involved with the writing of different safety standards, but the research, design and testing phase as well.”
When it comes to the testing of the rollover protection structures QMW has designed, his extensive knowledge about ISO and Standards Australia are an asset. “Once we have the design we put it to a full scale crush test under laboratory conditions at our state-of-the-art testing facility in Brisbane.”
In addition, to having more than 28-years of expertise in the design, destructive testing and manufacture of roll over protective structures (ROPS) and falling objects protective structures (FOPS), QMW is also the only National Association of Testing Authority (NATA) accredited facility in the Southern Hemisphere.
NATA is an organisation that provides a foundation for confidence in Australia’s calibration, testing, and inspection activities.
Being the only NATA accredited testing facility in the Southern Hemisphere, further highlights QMW’s commitment to safety and protecting its clients biggest asset- its employees.
“Unlike QMW, all of our competitors don’t really have a good understanding of the methods of testing, as they are not involved with Standards Australia or ISO.”
Meanwhile, with continual focus on investment, improvement, research and development, as well as using the latest technology, Mr Samuels believes QMW will be able to continue creating innovative safety products for the mining and construction industry.
